The hype about the new PBS series on the Vietnam War reminded me of the PBS series on World War II, which featured my old hometown, Mobile, Alabama, as one of four ordinary cities that figured prominently in the war effort. It described Mobile’s importance to the war effort as a shipbuilding town, and it highlighted the war experiences of some citizens of Mobile. These are two of the Mobilians who were described in the series. Unfortunately, the search engine for the series does not seem to be working. I could only find names I could remember. I remember these because I went to school with some of their sons.
